There are two important things to remember about ‘being stuck’ with your problems and conflicts: problems and conflicts happen all the time and they are opportunities to improve relationships and ‘how things are’.

People are born problem solvers. Unfortunately, most people tend towards immediately finding a solution. Yes really! . . the most common mistake in problem solving is trying to find a solution right away. This is a mistake because trying to put the solution before the process of resolution leads to failure. What is needed is a suitable resolution process with the solution at the end. Truly successful and effective problem solving does take some time and attention, more of the latter than the former. But less time and attention than is required by a problem not well solved!
